Master Planning and Urban Design

Master planning and urban design are corner stones of the practice. The analysis of urban context and space, the understanding and the communication of realistic and appropriate possibilities, leads to the creation of new, exciting, and sustainable places. Understanding the constraints and the opportunities particular to a site or project is fundamental if we are to secure an optimal planning consent. This builds value for the client and for the community.

As part of our careful preparation for a successful design, we undertake detailed feasibility studies and site appraisals. We have proven our ability to take the lead and be responsible for assembling the wider delivery team, for coordinating services, and for operational strategy, including the assembly and appointment of specialist planning, financial, retail and leisure consultants. Together we are able to design hierarchies for large and complex sites, referencing, evolving, and improving their urban context.

We are also skilled in envisioning how sites and buildings can be transformed, how the re-use and latent value of brownfield land can be unlocked, how careful master planning can deliver exciting and sustainable forms of development, and how - in balancing new design with imaginative restoration - we can create cohesive and articulate townscapes.
