Public Sport and Leisure
Proven design, technical, and management skills in public sport and leisure development enable us to deliver facilities that meet both the leisure and recreational needs of the community and the highly technical and specific competitive and training requirements of elite sport. Roberts Limbrick also work extensively as technical advisers to local authorities in the assessment of existing facilities and new projects.
We have developed a reputation for advancing the boundaries of sport and leisure architecture by understanding and illuminating the goals of our public sector clients at the very outset of each project. We are able to develop a holistic and sustainable approach to public sport and leisure design, taking projects from site appraisal and development feasibility to construction and project completion. We also recognise the need to balance good design with opportunities, effectiveness, and rigorous business planning.
We always seek to achieve best value and bring material expertise in exploring and harnessing the many methods of project procurement and capital financing. We have played a key role in achieving over £50m of funding from the Sports Lottery Fund, along with other funding, including the NOF, the Football Foundation and the Millennium Fund. We have been responsible for the development of over 25 swimming pools, sports centres, stadia, and outdoor facilities in the UK and overseas.
Roberts Limbrick have long been advocates of the possibilities of refurbishment. We have extensive, proven, and published experience that, in the right circumstances, the opportunity of refurbishment is a viable, sustainable, 'value for money', and long term alternative to new build. Over recent years we have enjoyed considerable involvement with sport related projects at schools and HE/FE institutions, where our public and commercial leisure experience has combined to deliver added value to successful curriculum based and recreational facilities.
We are represented on the RIBA Clients Sports Forum and we are members of LPF.
