The project aimed to create a future-focused sixth form environment that reflected the school’s philosophy of holistic student development while inspiring leadership, aspiration, and social action. The building needed to support a broad range of learning styles and activities, balancing collaborative and social spaces with quieter areas for reflection and individual growth. It was also important that the scheme delivered flexible, adaptable environments capable of supporting both academic and extracurricular activities.
Designed around Lord Rothschild’s vision for positive global change, the new centre brings together a variety of dynamic learning environments including modern classrooms, dedicated study areas, collaborative workspaces, Innovation Rooms, a café, and a double-height auditorium with retractable seating. Flexible spaces were carefully planned to encourage creativity, innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking, while a quiet reflection space promotes mindfulness and personal development.
The building is arranged around a new landscaped sixth form courtyard designed by our Landscape Team, complemented by interior and FFE design delivered by our in-house Interiors team. Collaboration with the Rothschild Foundation and Buckinghamshire Council played a key role in bringing the scheme forward, alongside coordinated BIM leadership throughout the project.
Completed in March 2025, the Jacob Rothschild Sixth Form Building provides students with a vibrant and flexible learning environment that supports both academic achievement and personal growth. The completed facility successfully reflects the school’s values of balanced education and holistic development, creating spaces that encourage collaboration, creativity, performance, innovation, and wellbeing.
